NDC has never begged to appear on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show – Sammy Gyamfi

Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has debunked claims that the party wants to return to Peace FM’s Morning Show, Kokrokoo, hosted by Kwami Sefa Kayi popularly known as Chairman General.

The party boycotted the show in May 2020 after describing the host of the programme as a dictator and bias.

A statement signed by Sammy Gyamfi, said the decision was taken following the radio station’s ‘unfair paneling system that the production team of that programme has continuously foisted on the NDC over a number of months.

“The National Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to inform all its communicators, media monitors, and officials that the party has boycotted Peace (104.3) FM's morning show (Kokrokoo) effective today, Wednesday, 6th May 2020”, Sammy Gyamfi, said in the statement.

The NDC further stated that all efforts to get the producers and host of the programme to replace the former NDC Central regional chairman of the party Allotey Jacobs with a fair-minded NDC member had proved futile, indicating that “the party continues to be treated with utmost contempt.

Hence, the decision to boycott the programme.

However, there were reports in some sections of the media suggesting that the NDC was “fighting” to be brought back to the programme.

Reacting to the claims in a tweet, Sammy Gyamfi insists that the NDC will not and has not begged to return to the programme.

Mr Gyamfi described the Kokrokoo programme as an over-hyped platform, adding that the NDC brand is far bigger than the Peace FM morning show and they will never especially under his watch appear on the show.

"The NDC brand is far greater than that overhyped platform. Our boycott still stands. Ignore the lies. #BaakoLied", he said.
