A Greater Accra Regional Vice-Chairman hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jeremiah Maclean, has pledged to prioritise grassroots mobilisation, member welfare and stronger party structures if elected.
He made the pledge after picking his nomination forms to contest the position in the party’s forthcoming regional executive elections.
Grassroots
Mr Maclean said his focus would be on strengthening the party’s organisation across the 34 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region and ensuring that the grassroots remained central to its activities.
He said his experience at the constituency level and engagement with branch and constituency executives had given him an appreciation of the organisational needs of the party.
He said he would bring his experience and energy to building a united and election-ready NDC, with particular emphasis on grassroots mobilisation and the welfare of members.
He also pledged to run a campaign based on unity, fraternity and respect for the party’s rules and guidelines.
“I do not contest against any person but in service to an idea,” he said.
Service
Mr Maclean described the submission of his nomination as the beginning of a journey of service aimed at strengthening the party’s structures.
He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the national leadership of the NDC and the Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee for their leadership of the party.
The party’s timetable indicates that filing of nominations for regional executive positions will take place on October 14 and 15, followed by vetting on October 16 and 17.
The regional elections are scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026.
