Bantama MP urges constituents to keep govt in power

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Mr Daniel Okyem Aboagye, has stated that the development of the country is hinged on stability and consistency in government.

He said the ruling party needed stability in government to enable it to execute its development policies and programmes because any sudden change of government would disturb that development trajectory.

Mr Aboagye made the remarks at a town hall meeting at Bantama in the Ashanti Region last Sunday.

He used the occasion to donate assorted items worth thousands of cedis to members of his constituency.

The items were 100 pieces of street lights, 10 pieces of hair dryers and 1,000 pieces of cloths.

Bantama development

The Bantama Constituency is the 'World Bank' of the NPP in terms of the huge votes it offers to the NPP in elections.

In the 2016 election, Bantama secured 88.4 per cent votes for the NPP, which was the highest percentage obtained by the party in that election. It has 10 electoral areas and 114 polling stations.

Mr Aboagye said he had embarked on a number of development projects and social activities since winning the seat in the 2016 election.

He mentioned the award of educational scholarships, the construction of roads and clean-up exercises as some of the projects and activities.

He added that he had assisted several people to gain jobs and offered more than 600 jobs to people mainly from Bantama in his microfinance company and other companies.

Mr Aboagye said aside from the construction of 12 kilometres of road in the area, he had also lobbied for the construction of 13.2 kilometres of roads in five different areas in the constituency.

He said there were other projects in the pipeline to accelerate socio-economic development at Bantama.

Mr Aboagye, therefore, urged the people of Bantama to continue to have faith in him and support him to bring about the needed development in the area.

He said he intended to contest the seat again and told the people that "what Ghana and Bantama need are stability and consistency."

Commendations

In his remarks, the NPP Secretary for Bantama Constituency, Mr Thomas Clarence Ababio, lauded Mr Aboagye for his drive and efforts to promote development in the area.

In his remark, the Bantama Gyasehene, Nana Owusu Apau, who chaired the meeting, also commended Mr Aboagye for his initiatives as a legislator.

The President of the African Youth Assembly for Peace, Mr Yakubu Hussein, presented a certificate of peace and conferred a peace ambassador title on Mr Aboagye for his efforts to build peace.

After the forum, Mr Aboagye, supported by the Bantama Gyasehene, cut the sod for the construction of a police post at Bantama.
