Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council to ban NDC if...
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern region has given the National Democratic Congress (NDC) three days to apologise to Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, the Okyenhene.
The group said if the NDC fails to do that, they will not accord the party any clearance to hold any activity in the area.

“Should they choose to ignore these pronouncements and demands, Nananom will not accord them any future request for clearance …..If they fail to heed, the National Democratic Congress, its ward executives, branches, constituencies, region, national executives will be banned from all official functions organised under the auspices of the Ofori Panin stool and shall be declared persona non grata in all palaces of the over 940 towns, villages, and settlements in Akyem Abuakwa.”
The call comes after the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, Kwame Zu, suggested that the Okyenhene had shared a common source of drinking water with animals until former President John Dramani Mahama gave the people potable water.
This led the residents and chiefs of Akyem Abuakwa to stage a protest against the leadership of the NDC on Monday.

Speaking to the press, the secretary of Okyeman, D.M Ofori-Atta said Mr. Zu’s conduct was an assault against the unity, customs, tradition, and peace of the nation.
He has therefore called on Mr. Zu to render a personal apology to the Okyenhene and perform some ritual pacification.
He also demanded that NDC should sanction Mr. Zu for his conduct.
“We want their Presidential candidate to know that the Ofori Paninfie and the NDC had no issues under his predecessors namely President Rawlings and President Mills, they respected this house. We are therefore very concerned about what is happening under the current NDC leader’s watch”, Ofori-Atta said.
