The Minister of Natural Resources, Lands and Forestry is proposing the direct transfer of funds meant for ministries, departments and agencies instead of from the consolidated fund.

Inusah Fusieni said this would avoid the delays associated with accessing funds from the consolidated funds.

Currently, Ghanaian students on scholarships abroad risk being dismissed due to government’s failure to pay their allowances and fees on time.

Speaking on a Current Affairs Programme; ‘The Analysts’, Inusah Fuseini said there could be challenges, but we should have mechanisms that would make us rise above the challenges.

“Because these are ceded revenue, dedicated funds that have to go to certain particular institutions, when the Ministry of Finance collects the monies, they should just give it to those institutions.

“I know there could be challenges, but we should rise to the challenges and provide mechanisms that would ensure accountability and transparency in the management of those funds by those institutions” Alhaji Fuseini said.
