Embattled Biakoye NDC Chairman refutes allegations
The embattled Biakoye Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Simon Twumasi, has denied series of accusations levelled against him by a group of party members.

The group, at a general meeting at Kwamekrom-Bowiri on July 12, 2013, passed a vote of no confidence in Mr Twumasi due to the alleged accusations.
Mr Twumasi said the accusations by the 28 members of the party, including some executive members, that he was running a one-man show, refusing to render account and holding funds meant for the membership of the party were not true.
It would be recalled that the Daily Graphic, in its edition of July 24, 2013, carried a story on page 18 with the headline, "Biakoye NDC passes vote of no confidence in chairman" .
The chairman, who insisted that the right thing should be done always, said the decision of the group was unconstitutional, since that decision could not be taken by the members of the party.
He said the meeting at which the resolution was passed had been organised by Mr Godwin Aboyo on a date and at a venue without his knowledge. After the meeting, he claimed, some of the signatories noted that they did not even know what they had signed.
He said he had, therefore, sought for an injunction at the Hohoe High Court restraining all NDC political activities in the constituency pending a fact-finding mission from the Volta Regional office of the party, under the chairmanship of Mr Kwasi Aboagye.
The resolution, he said, also accused the district chief executive of teaming up with him to change government appointees to the Biakoye District Assembly.
Mr Twumasi denied that accusation and said those people were appointed by Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, the Volta Regional Minister, on behalf of the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama.
He said Mr Aboyo, who was interested in competing against him for the chairmanship, decided to call the meeting without his knowledge, at which the resolution was signed to disqualifiy him from the competition.
On the accusation that he was withholding funds meant for running the party, he said no money had come from anywhere and that he had been forced to use his own money most often.
"How can I account to anybody, since no money comes from anywhere and I always use my own money to run affairs?" he asked.
For his part, Nana Louis Akattah, the DCE, vehemently refuted the allegations levelled against him and Mr Twumasi by Mr Aboyo.
Nana Akattah was mentioned in the accusations that he single-handedly nominated members to the assembly and also to the Volta Regional Land Commission Board.
He said Mr Aboyo had claimed that he had been forcibly removed from membership of the Lands Commission and replaced with the DCE’s favourites.
The DCE said membership of the Lands Commission Board was rotational and Mr Aboyo became peeved when he realised that his tenure was expired and he had to give way to a new person.
