EC sets December 1 for Special Voting
The Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed the special voting exercise for December 1, 2016.

This means all personnel of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, the media and other relevant bodies who will be performing key roles on the day of the main election will have the chance to vote six days before the main election on December 7.
The Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr Bernard Mornah, told the Daily Graphic the EC Chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei, announced this at an Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting last Friday in Accra.
The special voting exercise is meant to prevent personnel whose services will be required on voting day from being disenfranchised during the general election.
During the meeting, Mr Mornah said, the EC also announced that a total of 15,712,562 are on Ghana’s electoral roll for this year’s election.
Matters discussed at IPAC
Mr Mornah, who described the meeting as very cordial, said there was no contention with the decisions made during the meeting.
Throwing light on some of the issues discussed, he said the EC announced to the parties that it would organised a four-day training programme for all agents of political parties before the day of election.
That, he said, was part of the programme to ensure that polling agents adhered to the standard required of them before, during and after the election.

Mr Mornah said the parties also suggested to the EC to ensure that the positions chosen by parliamentary candidates of political parties on the ballot box was maintained for presidential candidates.
“This will afford the candidates to educate their supporters on where they should vote because if our presidential candidate is number seven and our parliamentary is number two, there will be difficulties for the voters to follow,” he said.
Asked about the EC’s response to the request, Mr Mornah said “they agreed to think about it and get back to us”.
