Don’t politicise development projects — Dr Ato Arthur

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo- Abrem, (KEEA) Dr Nana Ato Arthur, has said infrastructure development and its use must not be politicised.

Dr Arthur said partisan politics must not divide the people in a manner as to cause a section to despise infrastructure development despite who undertook such development.

Dr Arthur was speaking during the inauguration of a new health facility for the people of Abrem Esiam in the KEEA Constituency.

The facility was put up by the MP with his share of the common fund.

Nana Arthur posited that due to the heightened campaigns, it was rumoured that some members of the community had vowed not to patronise the facility because it was built by an NPP MP.

“Everybody is free to use this facility. It is for all of us. Sickness has no party colours and that is what we must understand,” he stated.

The Community Health Improvement Programme (CHIPs) facility would afford the people of Abrem Esiam and its environs easy access to health care.

Before the facility, residents had to access healthcare services at Effutu.

The good news

With the health facility in the community, residents will have health personnel living in the communities and providing them with health services.

Dr Arthur urged residents to cooperate with the health authorities to ensure the delivery of quality health care.

Maame Aba Esoun, a resident of the community, said she was excited about the facility. “Now I have relief. I can just walk to the health centre. There is no need to worry about getting transport fare. It is really good to have a facility like this here,” she stated.

The chief of the community, Nana Bosombra, commended the MP for the facility, saying politicians should work at changing the lives of the people for the better.

He pledged that the community would protect and maintain the facility to increase its lifespan.

The Municipal Director of Health, Mr Kofi Quanin Mends, said gradually but surely, the government and other stakeholders were working to ensure access to health facilities for all.
