CPP rounds off campaign, urges electorate to vote out NDC, NPP
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) held rallies in different constituencies in the Central Region to round off its national campaign for the 2016 general election, urging the electorate to collect monies and items allegedly being doled out by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but vote against them.

At a rally in Simpa in Winneba, the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, accused the NDC and the NPP of vote-buying, saying, “The NDC and the NPP will come to you in the last hour with GH¢50, GH¢20 and half pieces of cloth.
“Collect them. If it is money they have worked for, can they give it to you like that? The money is not from London, Paris or Turkey; the money is from Ghana. The money is your money. Take it, but don’t vote for them.”
“Otherwise, for another four years, they will come again, and the people of Winneba will be here with no jobs, no employment, and the women will be suffering because there are no loans for them. The men will be suffering because they are playing politics with the premix fuel,” he said at a rally at Effutu.
Effutu happens to be the constituency of the late Vice-President of the first Rawlings administration from 1992 to 1996 Mr Ekow Nkensen Arkaah.
Reject them
He said accepting the gift but rejecting the ballot would be a way of teaching the two parties lessons as they would not be present to detect who voted for them.
“When you are voting, the NDC will not be there, the NPP will not be there. Only the almighty God will be there,” he said to applause.
He described the party’s parliamentary candidate as a down-to-earth person who the electorate could have access to at any time.
“Because he knows your problem and has been with you all these years, he also knows the solutions.
“Give the votes to our parliamentary candidate. He has suffered. You control the town. If you tell your brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, girlfriends and daughters, he will win. We are begging you in the name of God. Give us the chance,” he told the crowd who erupted with applause.
After he had been introduced by his flag bearer, the party’s parliamentary candidate, Mr Rolance Akumbea-Sam, told the party faithful that the CPP held the key to unlocking employment opportunities for the youth.
He said the CPP had demonstrated from its stay in power from 1957 to 1966 that it could transform the country from one of hopelessness to progress and development where its natural resources would benefit its people.
Effutu
From Efutu, the CPP campaign trail made its way to Gomoa Central, where the presidential candidate led a float throw the constituency to introduce Mr Emmanuel Apoh, the party’s parliamentary candidate.
Mr Apoh told the Daily Graphic that he was highly optimistic about winning the seat because of the cracks in the NDC and NPP in the constituency.
He said the CPP was the only party with a united front and would harvest the fruits of unity during the election.
Similar rallies were held in the Gomoa West, Gomoa East and Awutu Senya West constituencies.
Greater Accra float
Meanwhile, the CPP yesterday brainstormed the Greater Accra Region with a float through some constituencies in a last-minute push for votes.
