Various speakers at a durbar at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra to celebrate the party’s “Positive Action Day”, expressed the need to put the past behind them and concentrate on analysing what went wrong during the elections and come out with workable and formidable solutions towards the party’s unification and reorganisation.

Dr Abu Sakara, the presidential candidate, said the occasion was to rebuild, resuscitate and re-strategise to win social and economic justice for the ordinary people just like Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah did to win freedom and justice for Ghana.

He said the party would use positive action to take back all its property confiscated by government some years ago to facilitate its operations.

A Senior Research Fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs at the University of Ghana, Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso, said there was the need for the party to analyse its strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in order to take precautionary actions.

He said “this will help us to know where we were, where we are now and where we are going”.

Dr Danso said although Ghana’s economy and politics had become so monetised that everything was about money, members should resolve that the meaning of positive action would give light and direction to the CPP.

He said the party needed to galvanise ideas to get the masses to understand the ideals and principles of the CPP.

The First Vice Chairman, Greater Accra, Mr B. W. Appiah, said the day was a sacred day during which the leadership decided to take a critical action to reflect on the activities of the party and to initiate steps to reorganise and remobilise.

He urged party members to be committed and sacrifice a little for the growth and sustainability of the party.

The National Organiser, Mr Abu Fogor, expressed unhappiness with the recent results of the elections, saying “it appeared some national executives and polling agents of the party did not vote for the party’s candidates.”

“If all our national executives voted, and even five executives in each constituency voted as well as the polling agents, our performance would not have been that abysmal,” he added.
