CPP eyes five seats in Bono Region

The Bono Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Mr Salifu Ali Dayinday has said the party was targeting five parliamentary seats out of 12 in the region.

He mentioned Wenchi, Berekum East, Dormaa Central, Banda Constituency and Jaman North as the constituencies that the party had targeted to win in the December 7, 2020 polls.

Mr Dayinday was speaking to Graphic Online during the party's National Delegates Congress in Sunyani in the Bono region.

According to him, the party had the chance of winning the five parliamentary seats, explaining the Members of Parliament of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had held the seats since Ghana returned to constitutional rule had performed poorly.

Mr Dayinday explained that CPP would therefore capitalise on the lapses of the two major political parties to cause a surprise in the targeted constituencies.

Chances
He stated the party had targeted the Banda seat because of the conflict between the NPP and NDC in the area, explaining that while the two parties were fighting, CPP was busily campaigning.

He said the Berekum East constituency had lacked development under both NPP and NDC MPs leadership and that the only option now for the people was to vote for CPP.

"After this National Congress we are going to embark on series of campaigns in these constituencies and I believe that plans put in place by the regional executives will help to win these seats", Mr Dayinday stated.

He said the CPP was going to pay particular attention to its parliamentary candidates across the country, saying "CPP will surprise Ghanaians in the December polls".

Mr Dayinday called on the electorate to consider voting for the CPP Presidential and Parliamentary candidates for good governance and better economy.

He challenged the NPP and the NDC to ensure peace before, during and after the December polls.
