Court stops Volta Regional NPP delegates conference

The Ho High Court has placed a 10-day injunction on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Volta Regional Delegates Conference scheduled for Saturday April 21, 2018.

The interim injunction was secured by a disqualified aspirant, Mr George Kofi Boateng on Friday.

Mr. Boateng, a former Volta Regional Secretary of the NPP was disqualified alongside three other aspirants by the vetting committee chaired by Mr. Bob Charles Agbontor in March 2018.

He thus filed an ex-parte motion in which he stated that he was unfairly disqualified from the contest and the court, presided over by Justice Eric Baah granted the injunction on Friday.

The plaintiff in an interlocutory injunction application dated April 16, 2018 stated that the party’s regional and national hierarchy failed to respond to a petition he presented over two weeks ago against his ‘unfair’ disqualification, prompting him to exercise his right through the court.

He told Graphic Online moments after the court ruling that he only got to know of his disqualification on Whatsapp, a social media application on March 30 which was later confirmed to him by the chairman of the vetting committee, Mr. Agbontor, with no reason assigned.
