Bole-Bamboi MP supports constituency fight against COVID-19

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole-Bamboi constituency in the Savannah Region, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana has donated items worth GH¢45,000 to the Bole District Health Directorate.

The donation is to help prevent and contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the constituency and are meant for distribution to all health facilities in the constituency.

The items include;

  • More than 1,000 alcohol-based hand sanitizers
  • 50 Veronica buckets
  • 9 infrared thermometer guns
  • 10 gallons of liquid soap
  • 11 packs of gloves and
  • Tissue papers

Speaking at the presentation ceremony on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Alhaji Sulemana who is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Bole-Bamboi, said it was his support towards the fight against the spread of the pandemic in the constituency.

He urged all stakeholders in the constituency to get on board and join the fight against the deadly disease and desist from politicising the COVID-19, which has been declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a pandemic.

He pledged his continuous support to all irrespective of political affiliation, religion or social background in this difficult moment, saying “together we will win the battle against the deadly disease.”

Alhaji Sulemana urged his constituents to continue to adhere to precautionary and safety protocols by washing their hands with soap regularly under running water and observe the social distancing protocols to protect themselves from catching the disease.

The Bole District Director of Health Service, Mr David Bakuri who received the items on behalf of the health directorate, thanked the MP for the gesture, saying it had come at the right time.

He said it would go a long way towards the prevention and control of the spread of the disease in the district.

Mr Bakuri promised that the directorate would ensure that all health facilities within the district get their fair share of the items for use by the health staff and those who visit the facilities for care.
