He said their new positions placed a high responsibility on the second assembly to perform better than their predecessor and, therefore, must set ambitious but realistic targets for the benefit for all.

Mr Ganaku also charged the finance department to come up with better strategies to generate internal funds (IGF) to reduce the over-reliance on the District Assemblie

According to him, the first assembly lived up to expectation and contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the people, adding that the performance of assembly members was likened to a relay race where each member of a team ran a section of the race.

“In the case of the Adaklu District Assembly, the race has started very well. Members of the first assembly actually lived up to expectation. Indeed, they contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of our people,” he stated.

Mr Ganaku announced that the district assembly had entered into partnership with four development partners such as Pencils of Promise, Adanu, ActionAid Ghana and a British non-governmental organisation (NGO), global Latitude, to foster the development agenda of the district.

He urged assembly members to get involved in the education and sensitisation of the electorate to programmes, policies and developmental issues of the government to ward off the deceits by some disgruntled people that the government was doing nothing for them, while in fact a lot was being done to develop the nation.
