Asantehene will not receive NPP petition - Manhyia

Asantehene Otumfuo OseiTutu II The  Manhyia Palace has denied that the Asantehene Otumfuo OseiTutu II would receive a petition from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the end of the "March for Justice" demonstration in Kumasi Tuesday.

Media reports in the past few days were rife that the occupant of the Golden Stool would receive a petition at the Manhyia Palace but a highly placed source at the Palace told graphic.com.gh Tuesday morning that the reports were false.

"The Asantehene is above such politics and will not involve himself in such activities," the source said.

Otumfuo was instrumental in organising the Kumasi Peace Accord, that saw the eight presidential candidates append their signatures to an agreement to ensure peace during and after the elections.

According to the source, the Asantehene takes interest in how Asanteman and the nation at large would see peace.
