Armed robbers kill businessman, wound others

He said the MMT bus was travelling from Samreboi towards Kumasi, while the Toyota Highlander, which was being driven by Ofori, was travelling to Accra.

Mr Gyabaa said on reaching Esuoahyiam, about five kilometres from Samreboi, the passengers in the two vehicles observed that the road was blocked.

According to him, three masked armed men and four others wielding machetes emerged from the nearby bush to attack the occupants of both vehicles and robbed them of unspecified amounts of money and mobile phones.

Mr Gyabaa said Ofori died instantly from a bullet shot from the robbers, while two passengers on the MMT bus sustained injuries.

No arrest has been made so far.

The body of the businessman has been deposited at the Asankragwa Hospital morgue for autopsy.
