APC advocates all-inclusive governance

The leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Mr Hassan Ayariga, has said for any government to succeed, it must adopt the all-inclusive governance concept, and do away with the winner-takes-all syndrome.

“We are therefore calling on various political leaders and parties to help in the campaign for an all inclusive governance concept,” he stated.

At the party’s first media encounter last Tuesday after the 2016 general election to outline the way forward for the APC and its leadership, Mr Ayariga said members of the APC should definitely not be spectators but citizens in the governance process.

“We will applaud when it is due and criticise when it is due to prove our loyalty as good citizens for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” Mr Ayariga stated at the press conference to outline the party’s activities for the coming period.

He called on all APC members to start with the reorganisation of the various party structures, right from the polling stations, through the constituencies to the regional level.

He also disclosed that the APC would embark on a nationwide tour to reintroduce the party in the various regions, constituencies, schools and other institutions as well as form 20 executive members for every polling station in all the 29,000 polling stations starting from the second week of September, 2017.

As a Liberal Socialist Party, Mr Ayariga said the APC had extended a hand of working together with various political parties to reorganise the APC.

In line with this, he said, all party offices would be provided with membership forms and cards for registration of members and new members.

He added that other important committees, including the council of elders, campaign team, communication team, youth and women wings as well as volunteers would be formed during the nationwide tour.

Governance issues

On governance, Mr Ayariga said for President Akufo-Addo to succeed, he must engage the best and right persons to serve the nation.

He said Ghanaians had entrusted the destiny of the country into his hands and the only way to change the people was by involving them for change to be effected.

He also called on Ghanaians to give the ruling government all the necessary support to transform the country.

“Let’s pray so they succeed. The success of the current government shall be a good foundation for the next government, which shall be All People’s Congress (APC), to easily transform the nation into a better place,” he stated.

NDC/NPP affaires

On the emerging divisions in the dominant opposition party, the National Democratic Congresss (NDC), Mr Ayariga appealed to the party to stop the blame game.

“We in the APC are appealing to our brothers and sisters in the NDC to move on as a party and stop the blame game of who caused or contributed to their defeat in the 2016 general election. The party leaders should reorganise themselves well and know that Ghana needs everyone on board in unity,” he advised.

Mr Ayariga reminded members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that winning an election was not the end of the struggle, but just the beginning of hard work, collaboration, struggles, serious issues and unity; saying “the battle of economic transformation and prosperity has just begun.”

In so doing, he urged the NPP to bear in mind that the people of Ghana had entrusted the economy of the country into their hands to continue from where the NDC left off to show what they could offer the country.
