According to her, such a situation if encouraged would thwart her efforts towards working hard to improve the living conditions of the people in the area.

She stated that since assuming office as the MP for the area in 2013, she had not been partisan in the discharge of her parliamentary duties and that she needed the collective efforts of all towards addressing the development challenges confronting the area.

She has therefore called on the people to bury their individual political differences and live in peace and harmony to enable the district to realize its desired progress.

Commissioning

Mrs Pokuah Sawyerr, who is also the Deputy Central Regional Minister stated this when she inaugurated community centres for three communities in the district last Tuesday.

The beneficiary communities are Bewadze, Asamoakrom and Fante Bawjiase. The projects which were funded by the MP were constructed at a total cost of GH75, 000.

She added that though she was elected MP on the ticket of the NDC, she would not partisan in the spread of development across the district adding that ‘’I will ensure that every community gets its share of development’’ she stressed.

She cautioned the people against acts of disunity and therefore appealed to them to be tolerant and ensure that the district enjoyed relative peace.

Essence of projects

She disclosed that so far she had constructed six community centres for some communities and would ensure other areas benefitted from the project.

She indicated that the community centres were constructed upon requests she received from the chiefs of the beneficiary areas who needed a conducive environment for social gatherings.

She mentioned that so many communities who were in darkness had been hooked unto the national grid as part of the government’s Rural Electrification Project.

‘’The extension of electricity to the rural areas had opened up such communities to developments which would go a long way to improve the living standards of the people’’ she noted.

She pledged to ensure communities yet to be connected to the national grid would benefit from the programme by the end of 2016.

Expression of gratitude

The chiefs of Asamoakrom Nana Kwesi Panyin VII, Nana Kojo Enu of Fante Bawjiase and Nana Afedzie of Bewadze on behalf of their people expressed gratitude to the MP and the government for redeeming their promise to them.

According to them, the MP in less than three years lobbied for many infrastructural projects which would facilitate the development of the district.

They urged her to ensure that development was spread across the district to improve the living conditions of the people.

Meanwhile, the 'Agona Youth for Mahama Victory' has thrown their weight behind the incumbent in the round up to the party’s parliamentary primaries.

According to the group’s leader, Mr Kofi Tawiah, the MP had distinguished herself and therefore deserved a second term with a call on the delegates to vote massively for her on Saturday.
