Abu KK’s elevation not surprising

Very well known as Abu K.K., some people, particularly the NDC supporters, are not surprised that he is being elevated to such an enviable position.

Born 33 years ago and from Issa, the newly created Daffiama – Bussie – Issa District, Abu K. K., after his basic education, enrolled at the Wa Secondary School in 1993 and completed three years later.

Following the establishment of the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in 2002, he took advantage of the proximity of the campus and got admitted in 2003. This resulted in him being awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrated Development Studies.

After his national service, he decided to be on his own and was, therefore, a frequent panelist on Radio Upper West and Radio Progress, all FM stations based in the Wa Municipality.

When the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won in 2008, the late President J.E.A. Mills, nominated him for the position of DCE for Nadowli at the age of 29 years, thus, making him the youngest DCE in the country.

This writer vividly recalls the day of his confirmation when the whole Nadowli District Assembly endorsed him, overwhelmingly, to become the DCE. Since then, he has been working hard to uplift the standard of living of his people.

In addition to his tight schedule, Abu K.K. was a prominent member of the Get Atta Mills Elected (GAME), a group formed within the NDC which rooted for then President Mills to be re-elected as the flag bearer of the NDC towards the 2012 presidential election.

Abu K. K., a muslim, is currently a sandwich student pursuing a masters programme at the U.D.S. He is also married with two children.

His hobbies include reading and soccer.

Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr Eric Dakurah, has commended President Mahama for nominating Mr Kasangbata as the deputy Upper West Regional Minister.

He said the honour to Mr Kasangbata did not come as a surprise to them because for a long time now, he had shown commitment and dedication to the cause of the NDC at both the regional and national level.

He hoped the nominee would be approved by Parliament after the vetting process.
