In November this year, the NDC would go to the polls to elect aspiring MPs and a presidential candidate to represent the party in the 2016 election.

NDC faithful in the North Tongu Constituency will be choosing one out of three candidates to represent the party in the 2016 general election.

The contestants include the incumbent MP, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mr Aple Bennette and Mr Charles Hodogbey.

Campaign launch

Mr Ablakwa launched his campaign last Sunday at Battor in the Volta Region to seek the mandate of the delegates to re-elect him as their candidate to represent them in 2016.

At the launch, dubbed: “Retain Okudzeto Ablakwa and operation 100 per cent yes votes for President John Mahama,’’ Mr Ablakwa tried to convince delegates by providing reasons why they should retain him and the President as candidates for the NDC in the 2016 polls.

According to him, his constituency has had a facelift socially and economically, making reference to the construction of school blocks, rehabilitation of bungalows for workers as well as lobbying for the construction of the Juapong-Fodzoku  road.

He added that fire engines for the North Tongu District to ensure prompt response by fire officers were also provided by his government,“adding that  over 150 communities in his constituency had also been connected to the national grid with such  communities receiving 10,500 free meters.

Donation

The MP donated some food items and toiletries to the Children’s Ward of the Battor Catholic Hospital.

Receiving the donation, the administrator of the hospital, Mr Donatus Duncan Adaletey, commended him for the gesture extended to his outfit and urged other stakeholders to assist the facility, adding that it should be considered as part of their corporate responsibility.
