The decision of the former Veteran Journalist to leave behind the ink for law making was endorsed by his constituents in Sagnarigu in the Northern Region.

Alhaji Fuseini, who contested the election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), polled 29,508 representing 78.79 per cent to win one of the newly created 45 constituencies.

Other contenders of the seat included, Mr Yakubu Abdul Karim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who polled 6,935 representing 18.52, Mr Alhassan Suhuyini of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) had 402, representing 1.07 per cent, Mr Abdul Jamaldeen of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), polled 371 votes representing 0.99 per cent whilst the National Democratic Party (NDP) contestant, Mr Abdul Kahar Adam had 235 votes, representing 0.63 per cent.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Alhaji Fuseini said he had so much confidence in President John Dramani Mahama to catapult the country into unprecedented economic transformation.

He said, Mr Mahama  being an honest , dedicated, hardworking, affable and a loving President , would commit himself to the promises that he had made to the people to achieve the Better Ghana Agenda.

“He is second to none, and I have absolute confidence that he will justify the confidence reposed in him by the majority of Ghanaians,” he said.

Alhaji Fuseini stressed that the President would work so hard that the NPP, which is a second force, would become an irrelevant alternative.

On the election, he said, the NPP had no message for Ghanaians other than the free Senior High School (SHS) promise which everyone agreed was a 419.

“Ghanaians have shown them that they can see through lies and arrogance. Next time they should show respect to Ghanaians but not insult them with promises that they are aware cannot be redeemed,” he said.

Alhaji Fuseini urged Ghanaians to remain calm in the face of the provocation being perpetrated by the NPP adding that,” the dust has settled and everybody has found its level.”

He thanked his constituents for the confidence they had in him to represent them in Parliament and said he would work hard not only to protect their interest but the nation as a whole.
