Two health providers partner to improve delivery
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to realign the programmes and operations of the two institutions.

The MoU, which is also meant to regulate and institutionalise operational performance, would further see the two bodies collaborate in the areas of governance, human resource and delivery of service.
The Director-General of the GHS, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, said the MoU held the potential to further improve on national health outcomes through partnership and collaboration.
He noted that while the two institutions had, over the years, been the largest health service providers, they had operated parallel health programmes towards the attainment of the goals of the health sector.
"We, however, saw the need to harmonise our operations by pooling resources to ensure a common policy for the sector," Dr Appiah-Denkyira said.
He said the GHS was seeking to improve its CHIPS zone programmes in deprived communities and would effectively collaborate with CHAG on its mobile clinic services.
"We have also identified that most of our personnel manning the majority of the CHIPS compounds are mostly health assistants, and we intend to build their capacity in collaboration with CHAG in line with our vision to ensure the survival of pregnant women and infants within deprived communities nationwide," Dr Appiah-Denkyira said.
Wastage
The Executive Director of CHAG, Dr Gilbert Buckle, stated that the MoU would prevent wastage in the system, provide leverage and ensure better health outcomes.
"We envisage that all stakeholders will commit themselves to the letter and spirit of this MoU for better healthcare across the board," Dr Buckle said.
While expressing CHAG's appreciation to the Minister of Health for her commitment to the partnership between the two parties, Dr Buckle charged all stakeholders who made inputs into the development of the MoU to ensure they worked assiduously towards the achievements of the set objectives.
