MTN holds Valentine's Day Blood Donation Exercise

The MTN Ghana Foundation will on Valentine's Day, February 14, organize simultaneous blood donation exercises in four regional capitals to restock the National Blood Bank.

The annual exercise by the MTN Ghana Foundation since 2011 is in response to distress calls by the Blood Bank for voluntary contributions to replenish critically low stocks to save lives.

A statement issued by the Foundation, which is the corporate social responsibility programmes implementing wing of Ghana’s telecoms leader, said the Valentine’s Day blood donation will be held in the Greater Accra, Northern, Western and Ashanti regions.

“The blood donation exercise is scheduled to begin at 9:00am on Valentine's Day at the following locations: Accra -MTN Ridge Towers Offices; Takoradi - MTN Market Circle Office; Tamale -Tamale Teaching Hospital and in Kumasi at the fore court of Independence Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, as well as Adum, near the new foot bridge,” the statement signed by Corporate Communications Senior Manager, Georgina Fiagbenu, said.

The MTN Foundation was recently honoured with a plaque and citation for its significant contributions to the National Blood Bank, which acknowledged that in the year 2013 alone, MTN gave 62 units of blood, the highest among corporate organizations in Ghana.
