Residents of Adabraka and its surrounding communities last Saturday turned out in their numbers for the annual health screening organised by the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) and the Accra Brewery Limited (ABL).
By eight o’clock in the morning, residents had gathered at the St Joseph School at Adabraka to participate in the exercise.
The residents were screened for breast cancer, malaria, typhoid fever, hypertension, diabetes and other primary care ailments by a team of medical officers from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Graphic and Cocoa Clinics and the Achimota Hospital.
A medical team from the Diamond Lions Club of Accra also provided free eye screening for the patrons, while others received free dental care.
Led by the Resident Medical Officer of the GCGL, Dr Jacqui Barnes, and the Senior Nursing Officer, Mrs Dinah Andrews-Agbeko, about 1,500 residents benefited from free medication and counselling.
