Ambassador Lutterodt donates to Ridge, Korle Bu nursing staff

Economist and Peace Ambassador George Haldane-Lutterodt  donated assorted food items to nurses at the Korle-Bu Teaching and Greater Accra Regional hospitals last Friday.

The food items  which came in bags of 35 pieces to  each hospital is to support the efforts of the nurses for risking their lives to take care of COVID-19 patients and their endeavours to mitigate the effects of the ravaging virus.
Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital

At the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ambassador Lutterodt and his team were met by a senior nursing officer, Nunyuienyo Aku Amenyitor, who welcomed them in a short ceremony.

She briefed them about the work of the centre and the central role it was playing in the advent of the COVID-19 virus. Madam Aku Amenyitor cautioned all to abide by the COVID protocols and the disease.

Ambassador Lutterodt recalled early last year when he was admitted at the centre and the great role played by the doctors and nurses to get him the best possible care.

“ This token is my widow’s mite for your assiduous display of nursing values and the lengths to which you go to provide the best possible care for patients,” he noted.

Madam Aku Amenyitor who received the items on behalf of the hospital thanked Mr Lutterodt for the kind gesture, and added that the items would go a long way to grease their elbows to provide the best possible care to patients.
Greater Accra Regional Hospital

The team met Dr Emmanuel Ahiable who is in charge of Case Management of COVID-19 patients at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly known as the Ridge Hospital.

He received the items on the behalf of the nurses at the hospital. He expressed gratitude to Ambassador Lutterodt and his friends for their kind gesture.

The Principal Nursing Officer in charge of the COVID ICU Centre, Madam Lucy Addy, enjoined Ghanaians to take the COVID-19 seriously and always wear a mask.

Ambassador Lutterodt thanked the nurses and doctors for a yeoman’s job at tackling the virus, and  cautioned against complacency in tackling the virus.
