This is a condition that involves various changes to the neck bones, the small cushions in-between the spine bones and joints of the neck. The alterations are usually caused by the normal ‘wear-and-tear’ as an individual grows older.

 Ageing involves changes in the body and sometimes there is degeneration of the cushions in-between the spine bones and abnormal bony outgrowths form on the backbone. The bony outgrowths may cause a reduction in the space in the spinal column or may press onto nerves in the neck region causing weakness in your arms. The condition may also result in neck pain and stiffness.

Neck osteoarthritis usually occurs in middle-aged and elderly people but affects both males and females. The condition is also common among individuals who maintain awkward positions for long periods of time at work while typing on the keyboard, writing etc.
