Eighty five selected teachers were rewarded at this year’s awards ceremony, which was on the theme, “A call for teachers: Teachers take the lead for quality education”.
The ceremony attracted people from across the country, including the Vice-President, Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, who was the guest of honour; the Minister of Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang; members of Parliament, the clergy, heads of educational institutions and traditional rulers.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr Yifaa expressed appreciation to the past and present governments for sustaining the teacher’s awards, which he said served as a source of motivation for many teachers in the country.
He dedicated his award to all who had supported him in his teaching career, saying even though he hailed from the Upper West Region, his award was for the Western Region where he taught.
Mr Yifaa further said the award would spur him on to work harder to achieve more.
