Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network and Consolidated Bank Ghana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Young African Women Entrepreneurs Fellowship Programme in Ghana.
The partnership, announced at a signing ceremony in Accra, is aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs through training, financial literacy programmes, mentorship, and business development support.
Speaking at the event, Founder and Executive Chairperson of the Young African Women Congress Network, Daniel Osei Tuffuor, said the initiative seeks to address barriers women continue to face in entrepreneurship, including limited access to finance, business networks, mentorship, and technical support.
According to him, the programme will focus particularly on women at the grassroots level and those outside the formal banking system.
He said the fellowship programme is intended to equip aspiring and early-stage women entrepreneurs with skills and resources needed to strengthen their businesses and improve economic participation.
Osei Tuffuor noted that the initiative is also expected to contribute to broader economic and community development by supporting women-led enterprises.
The Young African Women Congress Network describes itself as a platform for young women of African descent in Africa and the diaspora focused on leadership, advocacy, training, and economic empowerment initiatives. The organisation currently operates chapters in several countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana, Dr Naomi Wolali Kwetey, said the partnership reflects the bank’s interest in supporting inclusion and enterprise development.
She said the collaboration would help expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs through access to mentorship and support systems aimed at improving business growth and participation in the economy.
Kwetey added that the partnership aligns with the bank’s broader focus on inclusive finance and community development.
The fellowship programme is expected to target women entrepreneurs across different sectors, with organisers indicating that implementation details will be announced in subsequent phases.
