Ya-Na praises S.D.A Church for commitment to development

The Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area, Ya-Na Abukari II, has praised the Seventh Day Adventist (S.D.A) Church for its commitment to development projects in various parts of Dagbon and other parts of the four regions in the north.

He indicated that it was because of their commitment to development wherever the church found itself that he gave them one acre of land at Savelugu when he was the chief of the area.

Ya-Na Abukari II lauded the church when the President of the SDA Church of North Ghana Mission (NGM), Pastor Dapaah Siakwan, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa Palace.

The Overlord requested the church to always remember them in their prayers as Yendi is the traditional kingdom (Head) of Dagbon.

Request

Ya-Na Abukari II agreed to a request by the SDA President to offer them land for the church in Yendi and promised to contact his chiefs in the area for one acre of land for them.

Pastor Siakwan said the church was very grateful to the Ya-Na for the help he had been giving to them.

He stated that the land he gave them at Savelugu was being developed for an eye clinic and a school for the area.

He said the SDA was not limited to only preaching the gospel but was also into development projects wherever they established a church.

Pastor Siakwan added that the church had a number of basic schools in the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West regions.

He stated that the church had a senior high school, a hospital which was second to the Tamale Teaching Hospital in Tamale and a number of basic schools in Tamale and its environs.

He said the SDA Church also had the Valley View University campus at Wayampa in the Tamale Metropolitan along the Bolga Road, adding that there was also a kindergarten, primary and junior high school in Yendi.

Touching on the Ya-Na’s request for prayers, Pastor Siakwan said the SDA Church prayed for the government, traditional leaders and the country every Wednesday.

He said as kingship was always established by God, it was very important that the church prayed for traditional leaders and gave them the necessary respect and cooperation.

Pastor Siakwan reiterated that the land Ya-Na would give to the church in Yendi would be used for a clinic as the health of every individual was paramount, as well as a pastor’s residence.

He prayed for God to give the Ya-Na long life, for peace in Dagbon and for the people of Dagbon to cooperate with him for a peaceful mind to reign for long for the development of Dagbon.

The Ya-Na presented the church with yams and two guinea fowls while the church presented GHȻ250 to the palace.
