Xin An Safe Cement supports Asante Akim Central Health Directorate with GH¢30,000

The Xin An Safe Cement Ghana Limited has presented GH¢30,000 to the Asante Akim Central Health Directorate in the Ashanti Region to help the municipality in the fight against COVID-19.

Presenting the cheque last Saturday, September 5, 2020, the Marketing Manager of the company, Mr Enock Kow Koomson, noted that the donation formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities.

He added that company, located at Bomfa Junction near Konongo in the Ashanti Region would continue to play a part in the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

He said the collective efforts of all, including individuals and corporate entities would go a long way to help the country in its fight against COVID-19.

Bilateral ties

For his part, the General Manager of the company, Mr Zhou Jinhua, said the gesture was also aimed at deepening the bilateral ties between Ghana and China.

He said Ghana was a key trading player of China and pledged that the company was committed to contributing to Ghana’s development.

The Municipal Disease Control Officer, Mr James Kepah, on behalf of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), presented a citation to the company as a sign of appreciation for the gesture.

He said the donation would enhance efforts in social and community engagements in the areas of health education and advocacy.

The Municipal Director of Health Services, Mr. Martin Safo Osei, encouraged the company to observe COVID-19 safety protocols at their work place, stressing that the fight was not over yet.  

Background

Ghana recorded its first case of COVID-19 on March 12, 2020.

The country's cumulative total confirmed cases as of September 5, this year, was 44,777 while 43,693 people have either recovered or discharged from treatment facilities.

The number of active cases continue to drop as 801 people were actively ill from the virus as of Saturday 5, 2020, an update by GHS stated.
