The workshop is to encourage deliberations and  support of the creative arts industry by the private sector in order to improve upon the efforts of visionary leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah, R.P Baffour among others.

Dubbed “Where is the Medecis – Recognising Wealth in Creative Industries and How Business Can Support Our Creative Economy,” the workshop would be addressed by six personalities made up of  five Ghanaians and one Nigerian.

They include Sam Jonah.KBE., CEO of Jonah Capital, Prof. E. Gyimah Boadi, Executive Director, Centre for Democratic Development, Mr. Nik Amarteifio, Chairman, Omni Media, Mr. Amaechi Ndili, Head of Lagos Office, Emerging Capital Markets and Baba Ahmadu, a Businessman/Industrialist.

According to Mr Joe Osae Addo, CEO of Constructs LLC, one of the organisers of the event,  the creative industry was one of the fastest growing sectors in the global economy.

“Indeed, it is highly transformative in terms of income generation, job creation and export earnings. It equally generates non-monetary value that contributes significantly to achieving people-centered, inclusive and sustainable development.

“Undeniably, creativity on all levels requires patronage in an environment that promotes its support, funding and appreciation.

“Often, creative people talk and listen to one another, forgetting the key role that patrons must play in developing the creative agenda.

“ This kind of patronage must be encouraged in the private sector by listening to those who are or may not be supporting creativity in the different sectors, be it applied arts, design and architecture”, he added.

He mentioned some of the core areas of the creative economy as film, fashion, performing arts, advertising, architecture, publishing, software development, toys, video games, crafts, literary arts among others.

The series is jointly organised by the Institute for Music and Development, ArchiAfrica and Arterial Network Ghana with support from Danish Centre for Culture and Development, Doen Foundation, Prince Claus and the Golden Tulip Hotel.
