Work to consolidate peace and security in Keta - Togbi James Ocloo

The Dufia of Keta, Togbi James Ocloo V, has urged the chiefs and people of Keta to work assiduously to consolidate the peace and security the country was currently enjoying.

That, he said, was because a harmonious environment was a prerequisite for the industrialised nation the people yearned for and worked towards.

Togbi James Ocloo made the call at the inauguration and presentation of Togbi Amuzu Liekpor II “Hanua” (development leader) of Kedzikope in the Keta Municipality last Wednesday.

The solemn occasion was graced by chiefs and elders of the area.

He said although Ghana was widely considered an oasis of peace in the region of turmoil, Ghanaians should not be complacent but work hard towards its sustenance.

Togbi James Ocloo was of the belief that it was only when traditional leaders held the various communities together that the cohesiveness of individuals could be realised, stressing “that should not be lost on you”.

He urged the new leader to mobilise the people both within and outside the country to come out with programmes that would lead to the development of the area.

Tourism

Togbi James Ocloo said the municipality abounded in tourist sites such as Fort Prizenstien, the beautiful beaches, the Woe Light House and the traditional worship places among others.

“When value is added to these sites, employment will be generated, the area will be expanded, local economy will grow exponentially and poverty will be eradicated,” he said.

On education, Togbi James Ocloo urged students benefitting from the government’s flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy to take their academic work seriously in order to position themselves to drive the development agenda of the area.

Education

Togbi James Ocloo said the area could witness massive development if its citizens received education, adding that “our area’s development hinges on the number of our people who are educated”.

For his part, Togbi Amuzu pledged to support the people in the area in their developmental efforts and to also ensure peace in the area at all times.

Development projects

Togbi Amuzu mentioned some of the developmental projects as the construction of the Dzelukope-Keta Lagoon Road, the resurrection of town hall meetings, as well as embarking on projects beneficial to the total development of the metropolis.

He urged the people to keep their environment clean and report any sickness to the health authority, adding that “the issues of health, security and sanitation will be high on our agenda”.
