Work progresses on Wa Regional Hospital

In all, 27 buildings, made up of wards, residential accommodation for staff, an administration block and a pharmacy, among others, will be constructed.
The 160-bed project, estimated at $21.5 million, is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Ephraim Aveah Nsoh, accompanied by media personnel, yesterday visited the project site to acquaint himself with the progress of work.

In a briefing Dr Anthony Osei the Chief Executive of TIESO Ghana Limited, the construction company executing the project, said all materials for the project are available and promised that in spite of the sub-structures consuming  a lot of time, the company would work assiduously to meet the 2014 deadline.

“Fortunately, we do not have problems with funding and believe that the usual bottlenecks will not be encountered again,” he added

The Project Manager, Mr George Tetteh, said currently work on 15 buildings was going on, with the remaining 12 expected to start in the next three months.

He also said to ensure that the company met the 2014 target, measures, including an extended time for workers, had been put in place, contending that although the company started work in November, last year, a lot had been achieved.

For his part, Dr Nsoh expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, which he described as the best work he had seen so far in Wa.

He was also encouraged by the fact that majority of the workers on the project were from the region.

He expressed the hope that the Upper West Regional Co-ordinating Council would collaborate with TIESO to complete the project without any hindrance.
