Work on Sea defence begins at Anomabo
Work on the Anomabo Coastal Protection Project in the Central Region will begin this month when the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, cuts the sod for it to start.
Last Saturday, the last batch of earthmoving machines and other heavy duty equipment were moved to the site to mark the final preparation for work to start on the project.

The people of Anomabo and its environs were filled with joy when the contractor of the wholly owned Ghanaian engineering construction firm, Q3 Company Limited, got to the site with trucks and excavators for work to commence on the four-kilometre coastline which has been the victim of tidal wave destruction over the years.
The fishing community of Anomabo has been challenged with sea erosion over the years with a lot of houses destroyed by the ravaging sea.
Handover
In a speech after the machines were handed over to the Municipal Assembly, the Central Regional Minister, Mr Kwamena Duncan, underscored the government's commitment to make life bearable for all, particularly the deprived and marginalised.
It was in that regard, he said, that the project, which was limited to Elmina, was being extended to all coastal areas in the region.
He said the project would create job opportunity for many people in the area and in other parts of the region.
"When President Akufo-Addo says he will create jobs for majority of the people, these are some of ways that he will do it,” Mr Duncan said.
The regional minister praised the engineers for their commitment to complete the project at the stipulated time of four years.
He gave an assurance that all the support and cooperation would be given the contractors to enable them to complete the work on schedule, adding that "we will remove all obstacles to ensure that the project is completed on time.”
Mr Duncan warned against all forms of negative tendencies that would work against the smooth execution of the work, saying "we must always be our own keepers."
The Director of Q3 Company Limited, Nii Crisler Ankrah, said the company had the capacity and the human resource to execute the project.
"We will be on top of the job just to alleviate the suffering of our people on the coast. It is a daunting task, but we shall succeed," he said.
The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Mfantseman, Mr Kenneth Essuman, thanked the government for creating jobs for the people in the region.
