Life and career

Ms Motman attributed her success to the strong support system and the liberal family she grew up in, as she was always encouraged to bring out her best no matter where she found herself.

“My parents told me to work well and it will bring work. That no matter where I find myself, I should always put up my best and someone, somewhere will recognise it and take me to the next level,” she said.

She stated that although she was proud to be the first female CEO of a telecommunications company in Ghana, and the second in West Africa, she was still sad that it had taken that long for women to be given such opportunities to take leadership roles.

On how she maintained her calm during stressful situations, considering her position, Ms Motman said she usually took in deep breaths to help find her centre point, which helped her focus. “In an environment such as mine, it is always noisy and you can easily get distracted, so I try as much as possible to clear my mind in order to focus,” she said.
