We are delivering on our promises - Bawumia

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that within 18 months of assuming the reigns of government the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has proved skeptics wrong by delivering on its campaign promises.

According to him, it was evident that the various promises such as the restoration of the teachers and nurses allowances, reduction of electricity tariffs, the introduction of the free Senior High School programme and the Nation Builders Corps where 100,000 graduates are to be deployed this year to work in the various sectors of the economy were real.

Dr Bawumia stated this at Navrongo on Saturday, during his tour of the Upper East Region to pray with Muslims in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He was accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Zongo and Inner City Development, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique and the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Rockson Bukari.

He also prayed with Muslims at Zebilla in the Bawku West District and Bawku.

According to the Vice President, although President Akufo-Addo took office and faced initial difficulties due to the lack of the needed resources to roll out the NPP policies, "by the Grace of God he was able to fulfill a significant number of the promises which some people think he might not be able to implement".

He intimated that the government has not finished the work yet because policies like the One-Village-One-dam initiative has been awarded on contract.

Dr Bawumia equally assured residents of Bawku that government was considering the completion of the Bolgatanga-Bawku road as a top priority.
