VIDEO: Fire destroys wooden structures at Odawna
A fire outbreak early Thursday morning razed over 15 structures at Circle Odawna in Accra, causing damage before it was contained by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The blaze, which erupted in the densely packed area, was brought under control by GNFS firefighters, whose quick response prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby warehouse and over 50 other structures.

According to Assistant Division Officer Alex King Nartey from the GNFS Public Relations Department, the team managed to contain the fire, though they encountered challenges reaching the site.
“About 15 wooden structures, used for both residential and commercial purposes, were damaged,” said Officer Nartey, adding that the team worked swiftly to prevent the fire from escalating. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
In an interview with GBC, a victim of the fire tearfully pleaded with charitable persons to come to her aid, stating that she had suffered a similar loss of her property in the past.
The GNFS has since advised residents and business owners in the area to adhere to fire safety guidelines, noting that Circle Odawna remains highly vulnerable to fire incidents due to its dense concentration of wooden structures and commercial activity.
