Introduce uniforms for tertiary students - Lecturer

A Co-founder of the Dagbon Centre for Leadership and Development, Musah Osman, has suggested that tertiary students be made to wear uniforms.

According to him, the wearing of uniforms by tertiary students would help reduce the rampant occurrence of sexual harassment in tertiary institutions in the country.

Speaking on an Accra-based Starr FM on Friday, October 11, this year, Mr Osman who has over 10 years experience as a lecturer, said many of the sexual harassment incidents in tertiary institutions were caused as a result of the manner in which some students dressed.

The BBC Africa Eye on Monday, October 7, 2019, released on documentary titled: "Sex for grade" in which some lecturers in tertiary institutions were caught on tape in a compromised positions with some of their female students.

Based on the documentary, Mr Osman thinks prescribing uniforms for tertiary students would go a long way to reduce amorous advances toward tertiary students by their lecturers.

According to him, tertiary schools who wear uniforms such as those in nursing and teacher training colleges record low rate of sexual harassment from their tutors.
