The two had earlier pleaded not guilty to all the four counts proffered against them by the prosecution.

However, the court, presided over by Mrs Afia Adu-Amankwah, found them guilty of all the four counts and convicted them accordingly.
They were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit-robbery, and three counts of robbery.

Conviction

They were consequently convicted of the crimes and sentenced to 25 years each with hard labour on each count. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The two, together with a third suspect, Kwame Boozen (alias Kwabena Opoku), now at large, armed themselves with knives and a locally manufactured pistol and went on a robbery spree at Atasemanso Abuoso, a suburb of Kumasi. They robbed residents of their money, mobile phones and laptops.

Facts

An Assistant State Attorney, Ms Yvonne Adjimah Adjare, had earlier told the court that at 9:45 p.m. on December 4, 2014, the two armed robbers, together with the third suspect, took advantage of the power outage exercise and attacked residents of Atasemanso-Abuoso.

She said they attacked three houses in the area and made away with seven mobile phones, one Samsung tablet, a Toshiba laptop and cash in the sum of GH¢800.00.

According to Ms Adjare, the convicts managed to escape from the scene before the police got there.

However, she said days later, Owusu was arrested in another robbery incident and mentioned the names of Adabor and Owusu as his accomplices and led the police to arrest Adabor at his hideout.
