The philanthropist, who pleaded anonymity, provided the money for the surgery on Seidu Muzammuru, aged one, and Ibrahim Salim, aged two, following an announcement on Marhaba FM, an Accra-based radio station.

The radio station ran the announcement after the Cardiothoracic Centre requested for assistance from the public for the parents of the two boys who were unable to raise the money for the surgery.

Out of the $15,000, $8,000 will be used for the surgery on Seidu while $7,000 would be expended on Ibrahim.

The Director of the NCTC, Dr Lawrence Sereboe, said after the surgery on the children, they would regain their strength to engage in normal activities.

He lauded the philanthropist for coming to the support of the children and urged others to emulate the example.

Commendation
Dr Sereboe commended Marhaba FM for using its platform to raise the money and noted that it was the fourth time the station was raising money for hole-in-heart patients.

A representative of the philanthropist, Sheikh Saeed Muntari, said the donor gave out the money to help save the lives of the children.

He said he (donor) acted in accordance with the words of Prophet Muhammed that saving one’s life was like saving the whole nation.

The Chief Executive Officer of Marhaba FM, Alhaji Baba Sheriff, said the station ran the announcement as part of its corporate social responsibility.

He said the management and staff of the company were happy that the children would regain their strength after the surgery and join their families and friends at home.
