Tragic accident - Two burnt to death, houses destroyed
According to the DCE, she saw two human beings burnt beyond recognition.
“The remains of one of them who I suspect was the driver had the hands crossed. I could not withstand the sight, Oh My God,” Madam Tawiah said on the phone.
According to her, the accident happened at about 3.30 pm.
Residents stated that the gas tanker hit a speed rump on the outskirts of the village, the result of which was that the driver lost control of the truck.
The truck then ran into a stationery articulated truck before it overturned and exploded into flames.
The fire spread to nearby houses and stores, burning them in the process.
Fortunately, no one in the community lost his or her life as people took cover in safe places.
Two vehicles were also burnt.
Traffic built up at each end of the trunk road as the tanker burning in the middle of the road made it impossible for other vehicles to pass.
Madam Tawiah said personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service from Nyinahin and Nkawie were called in to battle the blaze.
