Trader steals phones from student
A trader, Yussif Sampoa, is before an Accra Magistrate court for stealing two phones worth Gh¢4,450 and Gh¢ 500 cash from a student.

Sampoa pleaded guilty when he appeared before the court, presided over by Mr James Kodjo Botah, and was fined GH¢ 1,200 or in default serve eight months imprisonment with hard labour.
He is also to refund GH¢4,950 being the value of the phones to the complainant in the case.
Presenting the facts of the case, Sergeant Patricia Ahenguah said Kuukua Asare is a student resident at Swedru in the Central Region while Sampoa is a trader and has no place of abode.
Sergeant Ahenguah said on February 15, 2017, Kuukua was on her way to La, in the Greater Accra Region when she met Sampoa who asked her for direction and she offered him the needed assistance.
Sergeant Ahenguah said Kuukua later placed her bag containing the phones and a cash of GH¢ 500 beside her to urinate and Sampoa snatched it and bolted.
According to Sergeant Ahenguah, on March 11, 2017, Kuukua met Sampoa at Kantamanto in Accra.
Realising that Sampoa had forgotten about her, she approached him and tricked him into believing that she was a trader who needed him to assist with the selling of her goods.
They both arranged to meet for business. At the said meeting, unknowing to Sampoa, Kuukua had arranged with the police and he (Sampoa) was arrested .
Sergeant Ahenguah said Sampoa admitted the offence in his caution statement and after investigations, he was granted police enquiry bail but failed to report to the police.
Consequently, the court directed his surety to produce the accused and Sampoa was eventually reported to the police on June 26, 2017.
