The  GH¢ 217,000 office  complex has facilities such as offices, teller cubicles and washrooms.

The union was established in 1996 to offer financial services to its members, as well as others who are in need of its services. It was licensed to operate in 2002.

The General Manager of the Co-operative Unions Association (CUA), Mr Emmanuel O. Darko, who inaugurated the building, said credit unions were established to offer financial services and that it was a basic human right of every individual to have access to proper financial services.

Mr Darko advised members of the union to exhibit sincerity, selflessness and dedication in their endeavours to boost production.

The Board Secretary of  the ATCCUL, Mr Joseph Nii Ayi Addy, said the office complex took seven months to complete and would  give the union  more credibility in the eyes of its customers. He also said the association’s inability to operate from an office in the past hindered a lot of its transactions .

Mr Addy added that the union had gone through a lot of transformation in the past but that did not yield the expected results.  The new edifice, however, would help them to compete with the micro-finance companies.

He indicated that “being a member of the credit union makes you a shareholder and every profit made will be accordingly distributed among its members.’’

Mr Addy expressed optimism about the new project, adding that, “ with this edifice, our membership will increase’’.

The chairman for the occasion, Mr Victor Amaning-Yeboah, encouraged members to not only save with the union, but endeavour to buy shares in the company in order to secure their future.

“The decisions you take today determine your future,’’ he said.

The  ceremony included speeches and choreographiy by the Glorious Choreographers of the Abeka `2’ JHS,  who graced the occasion with stunning performances.
