Staff of Juaben Rural Bank clean up hospital
The management and staff of the Juaben Rural Bank in the Ashanti Region last Saturday joined other citizens of the town to clean up the Juaben Government Hospital as part of activities to mark the National Sanitation Day (NSD).

During the exercise which lasted for about four hours the staff of the bank cleared bushes at the frontage of the hospital, cleaned some wards and removed cobwebs in the corridors.
The exercise coincided with the 30th anniversary celebration of the bank.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic after the exercise, the General Manager of the bank, Mr Noble Kwabena Agyei, said for the NSD clean up exercises to be sustainable, it would need the support and collaboration of all stakeholders in the communities.
Complement govt effort
He said there was the need for traditional authorities and civil society, to contribute resources to complement the effort by the government to sustain the programme.
My Agyei said much as it was the responsibility of the government to ensure that the various communities were clean, it was equally necessary for the people to change their attitude towards environmental sanitation by ensuring that their surroundings were clean at all times since “ a healthy people will in the long run increase productivity and reduce expenditure on medical bills,” he added.

The bank is currently constructing an X-ray department at the hospital and has so far expended GH¢ 130,000 on the facility which is nearing completion.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Prosper Gbekor, commended the bank for its support. “The bank has been a long-time development partner of this hospital,” he said.

As part of activities marking the 30th anniversary celebration of the bank that would be climaxed in November, the Juaben Rural Bank also organised a quiz for some selected schools and a football competition for some communities in its catchment area.
