SSNIT Ladies Club donates to children’s home

The Central Regional branch of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, (SSNIT) Ladies Club has donated items to the Methodist Rafiki Children’s Home at Winneba, as part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The items included stationery, foodstuffs and clothing.

Presenting the items, the president of the club, Mrs Mercy Adwoa Sam, said the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to the deprived and needy in society.

 Appeal

Mrs Sam used the occasion to appeal to employers to endeavour to send their employees’ contribution to SSNIT to enable them to qualify for payment by the trust when they retire and enjoy their pension.

She expressed grave concern about how some companies deducted the contributions of workers from their salaries, yet refused to pay them to SSNIT and said, “these practices are not only morally wrong but illegal as well.”

 Support the deprived

She appealed to businesses and corporate organisations to go to the aid of the deprived and marginalised in the society.

The Social Relations Officer of Rafiki Children’s Home, Mrs Mercy Asante, who received the items, thanked the ladies for the donation and said the items would be used for the intended purposes.
