Eight top men affected... Jawula Fired?

THERE is a shake-up at the Ministry of Finance. The exercise, which has affected eight senior officials, is meant to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of the ministry. A highly-placed source at the ministry, which disclosed this in an interview in Accra yesterday, said the Chief Director, Mr J. A. Yamoah, is to be re-assigned at the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

?He was seconded to the ministry from the BoG,? the source said.It said Alhaji M. N. D. Jawula, Director of Administration, is also to be re-assigned but his next schedule has not been disclosed. The source also named the Head of Legal Unit of the ministry, Dr Kofi Anyemedu, as another senior official to be re-assigned.

It further disclosed that five senior officers from the Budget Division and the External Revenue Mobilisation (ERM) Unit of the ministry are also to be re-assigned but their names were not disclosed. The Chief Director and the two other officials have been notified while the others are yet to be informed.The source said the shake-up is meant to curb all forms of inefficiencies to enhance productivity to promote the county?s development agenda. It, however, declined to state the exact time the changes will take effect but was emphatic that it will be ?very soon.?

It, therefore, appealed to all staff to co-operate with the new officers who will take over from the redeployed officials.
