Sefwi Bekwai GPRTU elects officers

The Sefwi Bekwai branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has held elections to elect its executive.

The elected officers were sworn in by the Western Regional Industrial Relations Officer of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Madam Gertrude Lucy Bentum.

They included, Mr Dauda Kudi as Chairman and Mr John Addae as Vice Chairman. Other officers elected were, Mr Michael Adjei, alias ‘Simpleman’ as Secretary, Mr George Amponsah as First Trustee with Mr John Asante, alias ‘Kwame Teng,’ as Second Trustee.

The chairman won his position by 103 votes as against 97 by his rival Mr Ishaque Insowah.

The chairman was said to have received the massive votes based on his track record of hard work during his tenure as the interim chairman of the association.

In his inaugural speech, he promised to work harder in order to improve on the fortunes of the union. 

He called for cooperation from his colleague drivers and urged them to strive for unity at all times since in unity lay strength.
