Security persons intercept two vehicles with 43 passengers

Security officials at the Adentan-Dodowa checkpoint yesterday intercepted two vehicles carrying a total of 43 passenger who were being conveyed from Accra to Dambai in the Oti Region against the restriction on movement order.

The drivers and passengers on board the two vehicles were taken to the Adentan District Police Command.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge, said the two vehicles were intercepted at the COVID-19 snap check point between 11:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. yesterday.

She said the first vehicle to be intercepted was a Tata commercial bus with registration number GS 6511-10 which had 27 passengers on board.

The second vehicle, she said, was a Sprinter commercial bus with registration number GW 6123-14, with 16 passengers.

The drivers of the two vehicles have been identified as Ibrahim Abu and Emmanuel Akibi while their vehicles have also been impounded.

After screening and questioning the passengers, Mrs Tenge said 32 out of the 43 passengers who were adults had been charged with violating the restriction on movement order and would be put before court.
