The package was developed in collaboration with the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) with the primary objective of making the visually impaired who are skillful more resourceful and independent.

Bread winners

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr Siaka Baba Ahmed, the bank wants to help these vulnerable but skillful people with credit to enable them to earn decent income and also possibly take on the role of bread winners for their relatives, instead of being a burden to them.

A number of the visually impaired, including Mr Paul Owusu, Madam Hagar Appiah and Madam Cecilia Arthur have already benefited from the Odotobri/GBU loans.

In another development, the bank has presented items and cash totalling GH¢20,386 to eight public institutions as part of its corporate social responsibility within its operational territories.

Institutions

The institutions include Aduman Senior High School, Ashanti Regional Islamic Unit Teachers and Workers Support Scheme, the District Police Headquarters at Fomena and the Kwadaso Agric College. The others are: Sakafia Islamic Senior High School, Dompoase Divisional Council, Fiankoma Development Committee and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council of the National Road Safety Commission.

The Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr Ahmed, who made the presentations on behalf of the bank, reiterated its commitment to support more institutions, particularly the ones within the bank’s operational areas.

He indicated that the gesture was the bank’s appreciation to its customers and stakeholders who had been loyal and contributed to the present enviable state of the bank.
