Robbers attack residents of Amanfrom

A gang of six robbers allegedly attacked residents of about six houses at Amanfrom, near Kasoa, at dawn last Sunday, leaving eight victims with gun and machete wounds.

There were no fatalities.The robbery attack, which is said to have taken place between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., has left most of the residents terrified.

Though some of them claimed they had experienced robbery attacks in the past, they said the nature of the latest incident, during which the daring robbers moved from house to house, left them dumbfounded.
They said the robbers, who wielded guns and machetes, ordered their victims to surrender their money, mobile phones, electronic gadgets and other items.

Some of the victims claimed the suspects used cement blocks to break into their houses and rooms, while the suspects fired shots indiscriminately.

Police confirmation

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Effia Tenge, confirmed that the gang of robbers attacked about six houses in a row.
“Eight victims were injured in the robbery attack. Some of the victims suffered gunshot and machete wounds,” she said.
She said six of the victims were on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, while two others who were taken to the same hospital had been treated and discharged.

Mrs Tenge said the suspects fled the area before the residents called the police for assistance.
“When the police were called in, they combed the whole area in search of the robbers but all to no avail,” she said.
The Accra Regional Police PRO said the police had mounted a search for the perpetrators and, therefore, called on the public to help them with information on the suspects
